Frequently asked questions

Construction drone services FAQ

How often should we schedule construction drone progress flights?

Most commercial and municipal projects schedule flights bi-weekly or monthly to align with owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings and payment draw applications, while fast-moving sitework or coastal builds often book weekly flights or milestone captures (pre-construction, foundation, framing, enclosure, and completion).

Are you FAA licensed and insured for active commercial job sites?

Yes. Every flight is operated under FAA Part 107 by Matt Bowen, a former Rhode Island National Guard helicopter and airplane instructor pilot. We carry $1,000,000 in commercial aviation liability insurance and can provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming your general contracting firm or property owner as additional insured, or increase coverage limits when required.

Can you fly construction sites near T.F. Green Airport (Warwick/Cranston) or Quonset?

Yes. Much of Warwick, Cranston, West Warwick, and Providence sits inside T.F. Green Airport (KPVD) Class C controlled airspace. Ocean State Drone Company handles all FAA LAANC airspace authorizations and controlled-airspace waivers prior to flight day.

What deliverables do our project managers and stakeholders receive?

Standard progress packages include high-resolution overhead and cardinal-angle still photos, 4K site orbit and flyover videos, and organized cloud folders sorted by flight date so your team can compare progress month over month. We can also add AI-assisted roof documentation and indoor FPV walkthroughs prior to drywall or at project completion.

Does a superintendent need to walk the site with the pilot?

Once we coordinate your initial safety check-in, staging spot, and flight boundaries on the first visit, recurring progress flights can be completed in 15–30 minutes from a safe perimeter spot with zero interruption to your superintendent or subcontractors.
